The Weekend Wrench List

10 bolt-on mods under $100 — for cars and bikes. No fabrication, no tuning shop. Just bolt it on, go faster, look better.

10 Mods All Under $100 Cars + Bikes 2026 Edition

The Rule: Everything on this list installs with hand tools in a Saturday afternoon. If it requires a lift, a tuner, or a drill press — it's not on this list. These are bolt-ons: buy it, torque it, done.

01
Slip-On Exhaust Tip
Moto
A stainless or carbon slip-on changes the sound, drops a pound or two, and genuinely makes the tail section look like you spent three times as much. Start here. It's the highest impact-per-dollar mod on any naked or standard bike.
Budget: $40–$85 (eBay spec or brand name on older bikes)

02
Bar-End Mirrors
Moto
Stock mirrors are an afterthought. Bar-end mirrors reduce wind blast, clean up the cockpit, and actually improve rearward visibility on most bikes. CNC aluminum, M10 threaded, universal — they exist for every budget.
Budget: $25–$70 per pair
03
Grips + Throttle Tube
Moto
Foam grips are the OEM default because they're cheap to produce. Ergonomic rubber or gel grips reduce vibration on long rides and give you better feedback in the twisties. Pair with a quick-action throttle tube for crisp response off idle.
Budget: $20–$55 grip set + tube
04
LED Headlight Bulb Swap
Cars + Bikes
If your bike or car is still running halogen, an LED swap is the most practical mod on this list. You'll see better, you'll be seen better, and you'll lose a few watts of draw. Plug-and-play on any bike with a standard H4/H7 socket.
Budget: $30–$75 per bulb (pair for cars)

05
Short-Throw Shifter
Car
This is the most underrated bang-for-buck mod for manual drivers. A 20–30% reduction in throw distance makes the car feel purpose-built. Most kits drop in with two bolts and a trim piece. You'll feel the difference on the first drive.
Budget: $45–$95 depending on platform

06
Strut Tower Brace
Car
Adds chassis rigidity without touching suspension geometry. On FWD platforms especially, a front strut bar reduces flex under hard cornering. You won't find it on a spec sheet but you'll feel it in the steering. Three bolts each side.
Budget: $50–$90 aluminum bar
07
Performance Air Filter (Drop-In)
Cars + Bikes
Not a cold air intake — just the filter. A drop-in high-flow filter (K&N, aFe, BMC) adds minimal power but improves airflow response, is washable/reusable, and costs less than two OEM replacements over its life. It's the sensible gateway mod.
Budget: $35–$75 depending on application
08
Weighted Shift Knob
Car
A heavy shift knob slows your shift inputs down just enough to hit the engagement window cleanly. Aluminum or stainless, threaded or adapter-fit. Pairs perfectly with the short-throw shifter. This is a $30 mod that changes every gear change.
Budget: $25–$60
09
Silicone Radiator Hoses
Car
Rubber degrades. Silicone doesn't — it handles heat cycles better, holds pressure better, and looks intentional under the hood. If your car is over 80,000 miles, replacing rubber coolant hoses with silicone is both a maintenance item and a visual upgrade.
Budget: $35–$85 for a full set
Universal — Cars + Bikes
10
Titanium / Stainless Hardware Kit
Cars + Bikes
Replace the visible fasteners — fairings, mirrors, engine covers, tank bolts — with titanium or stainless hex-head hardware. Black oxide or brushed finish. It's a detail that other builders notice immediately. And those fasteners will outlast the vehicle.
Budget: $40–$80 for a kit of 30–50 pcs
